"Sony has been conveyed informally the request not to air the episode," the official source said.Crime Patroepisodes are based on real-life crime stories.

An official behind the show said a week ago that they planned to base the January 11-12 episode on the brutal gang-rape and torture of a 23-year-old physiotherapist trainee in south Delhi. Popular TV crime show "Crime Patrol: Dastak", which was scheduled to show an episode based on the Delhi gang-rape case, has postponed the telecast citing "unavoidable reasons".
The episode was due to air Friday-Saturday, but the Information and Broadcasting Ministry had informally asked the channel not to telecast it, keeping in mind the sensitivity involved.
"The episode of the Delhi gang rape case won't be telecast today (Friday) on Sony due to unavoidable circumstances. It would be telecast later on a new schedule," a source confirmed to IANS.
A 23-year-old trainee physiotherapist was brutally raped by six men in a moving bus in south Delhi Dec 16. She died Dec 29 in a Singapore hospital, where she was being treated for grievous injuries.
The six rapists, including a juvenile, have been arrested and charges, including of murder, have been filed against five of them.
Hosted by popular TV actor Anup Soni, "Crime Patrol: Dastak" picks crime cases and brings them to the viewers by reconstructing the crime scene with actors.
The show has so far shown some popular cases like those of baby Falak, Neeraj Grover murder as well as Mumbai's eve-teasing case in which Reuben Fernandes and Keenan Santos were killed.

Much has been talked and written about the brutal Gang Rape case that took place in Delhi. The entire nation was left ashamed, when the victim breathed her last post 13 days of the insane attack and the world is still waiting for the justice.
In the midst, Sony TV's Crime Patrol, produced by Optimystix Productions was about to air an episode on this incident which took place in Delhi. Crime Patrol focuses on unnoticed and brutal crimes which takes place in the corners of our nation. Accordingly, in tonight's episode the show was about to show the entire Delhi Gang rape incident.

If sources are to be believed than this particular episode has been banned from being telecast tonight, courtesy pressure from the Top (I&B Ministry). A source says that as the case is still under surveillance, it would be unfair to show the episode without any final verdict. Hence; the tonight's episode has been chopped.
When contacted, Neeraj Nayak, creative and the co producer of the show confirms, "Yes, the news is true. The channel has been told not to telecast crime patrol episode based on Delhi Gang Rape case."
We also contacted, Anup Soni, the anchor of the show and he stated, "Even I have heard that the episode has been stopped from being aired tonight. But the channel would be more comfortable in commenting on the same."
All our efforts to reach Sneha Rajani, the business head of the channel were futile.
Before any delays, hope the nation gets the justice or else it would be the case of 'Justice delayed is Justice denied'.
The idea of airing 'Crime Patrol-Dastak' episode, based on the Delhi brutal gang-rape case tonight, hasn’t gone down well with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The ministry has advised the channel to avoid airing the show.

IB had issued an advisory to all other channels to not to telecast any show on the sensitive case.
"The episode of the Delhi gang rape case won't be telecast today (Friday) on Sony due to unavoidable circumstances. It would be telecast later on a new schedule," a source has been quoted as saying.
Sony has refused to comment anything on the advisory issued by the ministry. "I am not going to make any comment on this one," said Sneha, Senior Executive Vice President & Business Head - SET (SONY Entertainment Television). Later she tweeted,"One of those days .... When you just want to SCREAM .. At my helplessness ...(sic)."
Crime Patrol’ will focus on the Delhi gang rape case in its special episode today. The creative team has naturally handled the case sensitively. Says Subramaniam S Iyer, writer and director of the show, “It’s not just a case that is sensitive, but there’s also a lot of concern around it. People are all aware of this case. We have taken it forward in our episodes and emphasised the need for change. The pressure has to be there from all quarters. Only then will we ever see a change.”
Talking about the popular show, which is in its fourth season, Subramaniam says, “Crime is an exact reflection of what society is. For me, this is not just a crime show, it’s about the issues in society. In fact, we have taken up issues based on crime.”
Anup Soni, host of the show, says, “It’s beyond me to understand how can anyone fall so low and be so brutal! It amazes and shames me. It was traumatic to just shoot the episode even though I’m not acting in it. Main toh sirf sutradhar hoon. When I can feel so disturbed, I wonder how that girl’s family and friends are coping with the situation.”
He adds, “We need to review our laws and make them stringent enough that one can’t even think of committing such a heinous crime. The boy and girl were lying on the road in that cold with such grievous injuries and no one stopped to help them! What are we all turning into? I watched the boy’s interview on TV and was shocked to hear what he had to say about the people, the police and even the hospital. So it’s not just the government or the authorities which need to change, we all need to change. We have to become more sympathetic and humane!”
Watch Crime Patrol tonight and tomorrow at 11 pm on Sony Entertainment Television.
